Excerpt of Letter From Bethany Place Baptist Church

“Bethany Place Baptist Church is located at 1501 South Providence Road, and 235 members are Chesterfield residents, most living in the Clover Hill District.

In its simplest form, Bethany Place’s mission is to SERVE God and SHARE the Gospel by MAKING differences in our communities and BEING the difference in people’s lives.

We carry out our mission locally and globally, and I’d like to briefly share a few examples of how we carry out our mission here in Chesterfield County.

This evening, April 24th, about 40 neighborhood and church youth are playing games and learning Biblical values, such as integrity, self confidence, caring for others and mutual respect – key elements of our weekly AWANA program.

In July, about 75 neighborhood children will attend our annual sports camp, where we teach them the basics of basketball and other sports – as well as how to make new friends, play as a team, solve problems together – and share the importance of faith in our lives.

At Halloween, over 1,000 parents and children from nearby neighborhoods will attend our annual “Trunk to Treat,” a fun and safe evening where we will serve families 30-gallons of homemade brunswick stew and 500 hot dogs – and we will give out over 35,000 pieces of candy!!

During Christmas, our members will individually purchase 15 – 20 bikes and bring them to the Southside Baptist Center to be given to children who otherwise may never have a new bike.

We also have after school programs at Reams Rd Elementary School – and through our weekly “Backpack Buddies Program” at Providence Elementary School. We are privileged to provide nutritious weekend meals to 13 students and families throughout the school year.

A final important comment about Bethany Place’s mission and local ministries is that the Chesterfield families we serve reflect the diverse cultures, races, and economic status that makes our county a vibrant place to live, work, play and worship God together.

As to the opportunity before you this evening, our Church has owned these unused acres for decades, and we have always trusted that they would someday be developed onto a neighborhood for new young families and residents of all ages.

We believe Bethany Creek Park is the right development at the right time.  We enthusiastically support the creation of Bethany Creek Park.

We commit to be remain good stewards of our resources and to work closely and collaboratively with the developer and homebuilders.  Equally important, we promise to be great neighbors to the families who choose to live there.

We also commit to work side-by-side with the Homeowners’ Association to maintain common areas and work with neighboring communities.

Thank you for allowing us to share with you Bethany Place’s mission and highlight our local ministries. Bethany Place Baptist Church remains committed to being both great neighbors and caring friends to families throughout Chesterfield County.”
