Bethany Creek Park Approved by Chesterfield County

Michael RyanUncategorized

It has been almost a year since Developer Ned Massie and his team came to us with the concept of developing our unused land to create Bethany Creek Park, a neighborhood of about 60 new family homes.

During the last six months, the Chesterfield Planning Department has been reviewing plans, requesting additional modifications and proffers. VDOT has been involved and there were three public hearings with nearby neighbors.  Two months ago, the County’s Planning Department held its final review, including ‘public hearing’ at Bethany Place. After a few more tweaks, the Planning Department unanimously approved the Bethany Creek Park development.

On Wednesday, April 24th, Chesterfield’s Board of Supervisors formally reviewed all the Planning Department’s recommendations, documentation, and public hearings feedback. They also reviewed a public letter that provided the Board of Supervisors information about our mission and ministries – especially here in Chesterfield – and support for the development of Bethany Place Park. (You can read a portion of that letter by following this link.)

After full consideration, they unanimously approved the property rezoning and development plan, calling it a “Model for the County” and making many positive comments about Bethany Place’s people and ministries.

So . . . Bethany Creek Park is a GO!! That meeting was the last big formal approval needed to move forward. Next steps include environmental work, final construction plans, and ‘putting a shovel in the ground.’  We will keep Members updated as plans progress.
